Call for Photos

In commemoration of the Chamberlin Hall of Science (1968-2008), the library is creating a unique digital collection consisting of digital images of the building and the beloved spaces within taken by members of the Beloit College community.  Your favorite images taken in or from Chamberlin Hall may be added to the library’s existing collections of City and College memories currently available in Beloit College Digital Collections.  Submissions will be accepted on the photo sharing site Flickr beginning now and continuing through October 2008.  While photos may still be submitted to Flickr after October 2008, it is less likely that these late submissions will be included in the digital collections.  If you would like to submit your digital photos, please sign up for a Flickr account and follow these guidelines.

• Save photos as JPEG or TIFF files with a long edge of 1024 pixels (photos cannot exceed 5MB).
• In the photo description, include the following information: Photographer’s name; General location at which the photo was taken (e.g.: room number, floor, direction of exterior view); Your title for the image; Date photo was taken
• After uploading photos, click on the photos and scroll down to “Additional Information” on the right side of the screen. After the “All rights reserved” statement, click “edit” and select “Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons.” Then, click “Save.” This will grant the library rights to include your photos in the Collection.
• Click on the “Groups” tab and search for “Chamberlin Hall of Science” and join the group (alternatively, go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/chamberlin/). 
• Go back to your photo page and click on the photos you wish to add.  Click “Send to Group” and select the Chamberlin Hall group.
• Due to time and resource constraints, the library will not be able to provide digitization services. If you have non-digital images, please scan them and submit the digital copy on Flickr.

Please note that although every effort will be made to include all submissions, it may be necessary to exclude images that fall outside the scope of the collection, are inappropriate, or that do not conform to the guidelines above.
