For 25 years, Beloit College has recognized outstanding undergraduate student research during the Student Symposium Day. Each spring, classes are suspended for one day to allow all students and faculty to participate in the Symposium Day program.
The Annual Symposium is an opportunity for selected students to present their research to an audience of their peers and mentors who, in most cases, are Beloit College faculty. In some instances, however, students have worked on their research with faculty from other campuses ranging from Berkeley and Baylor and the universities of Wisconsin and Chicago to the University of Ghana. Each year, approximately 50 students are selected.
Approximately one-third of Beloit College students go directly to graduate and professional study, but almost 70% of Beloit graduates eventually continue on to post-baccalaureate study within ten years of graduation.
