Academics

Images of Beloit Beloit College has been cited as one of the top colleges in the nation that involve students in the educational process. These pages and the links to the left detail Beloit's flexible, yet rigorous academic program. Our curriculum fosters critical thinking and creative expression; it emphasizes international education, interdisciplinary, and experiential learning. Active student learning and student-faculty collaboration are at the heart of a Beloit education.

A nationally-acclaimed study* of American colleges and universities placed Beloit College in the top 20 percent among all colleges and universities in each of five important categories:

  • The level of academic challenge in areas regarding the preparation for class, the use of high-order thinking skills, and the intellectual climate on campus;

  • Active and collaborative learning, including everything from class participation to outside class discussion and community-based projects;

  • Student interaction with faculty, targeting timely and sensitive feedback in discussion, and involvement in research with faculty;

  • Enriching education experiences that allow students to reach out to and encounter others from diverse backgrounds, while extending opportunities for field work and study beyond campus;

  • The campus environment, looking at how students thrive academically and socially while coping with non-academic responsibilities.
